Even though Nadine & Christoph contacted me months in advance about their wedding, we didn’t get to actually meet until a few weeks before their big day. It was such a great meeting and the conversation kept flowing from wedding plans to traveling and everything in between. Needless to say, Nadine & Christoph made a great first impression and I couldn’t wait until the next time I’d see them, which as their wedding day.
My job brings me to so many different locations, its really a great excuse to see a bit more of what Germany has to offer off the beaten path. Many people here in Bavaria would consider this wedding a destination wedding… destination being Baden-Wuerttemburg :)
When I arrived at Nadine’s parents’ house in Sonderbuch that morning, she was already done with hair and make-up and looked beautiful even before she put on her dress! After spending some time capturing all of her very pretty accessories for the day, she was finally able to slip into her dress, and wow, she looked breathtaking! I knew Christoph would be blown away when he saw her. He was already waiting for us at the church greeting the guests and getting ready for his first glimpse of Nadine which we had planned to do right before the ceremony. When I met up with them, they said they wanted their moment to be intimate, and not with 100 people watching as it would be if Christoph’s first time seeing Nadine was as she was coming down the aisle. I thought that as a great idea as that also gave them a few minutes to just be with each other before getting down to business :D
I went ahead to the church and set things up a bit for the first peek…but we had a bit of a close call and their first look almost happened coincidentally in the parking lot lol. After getting that straightened out, poor Christoph had to wait what must have seemed like an eternity to see his bride. I’m sure I didn’t make things easier by telling him how amazing she looks :) Eventually they had their moment, and it was so sweet. I think they both needed it as they were pretty nervous, which I also always find super sweet :)
The ceremony was very special in that Christoph’s father was the minister! How neat is that?! I always love when the ceremony is held by someone close to the bride & groom, it makes it so much more intimate and special..and just very personal. And to top it off, the main music ‘acts’ were Christoph’s brother on the flute (which he taught himself!) and his mother on the violin!
After the ceremony Nadine & Christoph had a little surprise waiting for them, a dove release! This is always fun to shoot and capture everyone’s reactions! Although, I have to admit there is always a small part of me that is a bit scared of a kamikaze dove flying right into my lens lol.
Once the doves were well on their way back home, Nadine & Christoph were congratulated by all of their guests before joining them in a side house near the church for a little champagne reception. I let them mingle wight heir guests and grab some refreshments before stealing them away for their portrait session.
We drove to Blaubeuren and started their session at the Blautopf…the literal transition is the Blue Pot and it is pretty obvious why that is. The Blautopf is a natural spring that feeds the Blau river, and it is the most amazing turquoise colour, it actually reminded me of my vacations in Croatia :) We also headed over to the monastery courtyard and a few other little nooks that Nadine thought would be great for photos, and she was spot on! Not only did I have some cool locations to work with but Nadine & Christoph make such a beautiful couple, I was doing that ‘mental happy dance’ I do in my head from time to time :D
But as always, we were on a bit of a tight schedule, so eventually we had to make the trek over to Leipheim where the reception was. Nadine & Christoph chose the Zehntstadl in Schloss Leipheim as their reception location, and it was easy to see why! The room was a great mixture of modern with its clean lines and rustic with its exposed beams, and of course it had a touch of history as it was situated in the charming Schloss Leipheim. I was only there for part of the evening’s events, including a balloon release and a funny little skit put on by Christoph’s mother & sister (which I am proud to say I understood A LOT of considering it was in a fairly difficult dialect I had never heard before lol). And from what I heard, Christoph & Nadine’s friends and family really had the whole evening planned out with shows and games, and I am sure I missed out on a lot of action and an amazing party!
Christoph & Nadine, it was such a pleasure meeting the 2 of you! Thank you so much for letting me be a part of such an intimate day and mekong me feel so ‘at home!’ I hope you are having a great time on your honeymoon :)
