I was so excited about this wedding right from the first meeting with Josie & Aidan! Josie is from South Africa, Aiden is from England where they currently live together. Josie’s parents live in Munich, so they decided to have a destination wedding here. About 50 of their closest friends and family flew over to join them on their special day and I knew that a wedding full of Brits can’t be anything but a good time :)
We started the day with some getting ready shots of Josie, her mother, and her bridesmaids at the Hair Consulting Lounge in Munich. The ladies there did an amazing job, I love the wait the girls hair & make-up came out! And I LOOOOVE Josie’s Maggie Sottero gown and the bridesmaids’ dresses they brought over from the UK (purchased at Kaliko)…they all looked stunning!
The original plan was to have the ceremony in Theatiner Kirche, but a few weeks before the wedding, it started to undergo some renovations. This would be a reason to stress out for lots of couples, but Josie’s parents found a great back-up before telling her and Aidan the news. The new ceremony location was the St. Peter und Paul Kirche in Tutzing. The ceremony was beautiful and the priest had a great sense of humour which kept the guests laughing throughout. After the ceremony they had a little champagne reception outside right on the lake…perfect for a summer wedding! I had a few minutes to take some photos of Josie & her girls and Josie & Aidan as well.
We then headed over to the Hotel Kaiserin Elisabeth am Starnberger See to start the evening with cocktail hour on the patio. They had some snacks and drinks as well as some yard games set-up for the guests. While everyone was having fun and mingling, 2 of Josie’s brothers were in the reception room working their magic. They decorated the whole room, including setting up the candy table…the room and everything in it looked AMAZING! I loved all of the details! Josie & Aidan’s wedding theme was ‘elegant vintage’ and everything, including the hotel, tied in perfectly with that. After I grabbed some shots of the beautiful decorations and floral arrangements (by Blumen Jeck in Feldafing), we did some group photos and then a few more portraits of Josie & Aidan on the beautiful hotel grounds.
As the sun set, everyone headed inside for dinner. I love that Josie & Aiden put bubbles at everyone’s place setting…the guests had a great time with that as the evening got started. Between courses there were a few sweet speeches by Josie’s dad, Aiden and his best man. After dinner, the first cake was brought out…yes, thats right, I said FIRST cake..Josie & Aidan had TWO wedding cakes!! The first was an ice cream cake done by the hotel, and the 2nd was a beautiful 2 tiered cake done by Alma Pasteles (as well as the cake pops and cupcakes on the candy table….I’ve admired her work for sometime now, and it was great to see it in person…not only did her cake look amazing, it tasted great too! Throughout the evening the guests had a blast with the polaroid ‘photo booth’ that was set up to take photos for the guestbook, which of course also totally fit Josie & Aidan’s wedding theme. And you know how I said a wedding with Brits can’t be anything but a good time? Well… lets just say I have never seen so many naked bottoms at a wedding before..and that was all before 10pm lol..so I can only imagine how much fun they all had after I left. After the bride & groom’s first dance and a bunch of dancing, they cut their real wedding cake (from Alma Pasteles) and then my job was done.
@Josie & Aidan, I had so much fun with you and your crazy guests! It was such beautiful day, and I just love all the effort you put into the details, big & small..it definitely paid off! I hope your day was everything you hoped it would be and more!
