It has been a VERY long time coming, but I am about to launch my new branding and a brand new website!
Back in the day when I started my business, investing in branding and a professional logo just wasn’t a priority for me, so I always did everything myself. As my business started to grow and I started to grow as a photographer and find my own style, I just wasn’t happy with that I was coming up with. It was nice enough, but nothing at all unique. I felt like my branding, or the ‘look’ of my business was really in consistent and it just wasn’t me. I basically had no real ‘Brand Identity.’
Finally at the end of 2013 I reached the point in my business when I knew it was time for a change. I wanted to step things up, and I was ready for a solid brand, a consistent look across the board. I wanted a look I could feel proud of when handing out business cards rather than secretly hoping that nobody notices how randomly everything was put together. So I set off searching for the right person to help me achieve that! Then I found her! The amazingly talented Elle from Postfilm Design came to my rescue!
We started our little journey together pretty much exactly 1 year ago. I was pretty much clueless as to what I wanted my brand to look like although I did have a few ideas about what I DIDN’t want it to look like. She helped me look at my business – where it was and where I want to take it, who my ideal clients are and the messages I want to convey and came up with a beautiful new brand design.
The one thing I knew going into the re-branding process is that I wanted it to be colourful. If you’ve been following my work, you’ll know that I LOVE colours. I also wanted something modern & fun. The branding Elle came up with is all of these and I love it! It’s also extremely flexible which was another important factor for me. Things are constantly changing…we as people are constantly learning, developing and changing, and my business is no different. Who knows what it will look like in 3, 5 or 10 years. I can modify the designs, change the colours, etc if I need to. I can go for bolder designs, more mellow designs or keep the design clean and simple. The options are pretty much endless, and I am excited to see how this new brand will accompany me and my business over the next few years!
Once my brand was finished, I knew I needed a major overhaul on my website. It hasn’t been updated in over 2 years! I decided to create my new site using a Prophoto template for WordPress. Not only is it easy to customise, but also great for SEO, which is super important these days. While designing my site, I decided to go for more of a clean, simple look with little bursts of colour and fun throughout. I really wanted my photos to be the focal point of my site, and any design elements to be kept to a minimum as accents on the page. I’m really happy with how it came out, and even more happy to finally have an updated portfolio full of so many gorgeous weddings. I’ve also decided to include a boudoir gallery and portraiture gallery on the page, rather than having 3 separate pages as I’ve done in the past.
So needless to say, you will be seeing some major changes here in the coming week. Please bare with me as I’m sure there will be some adjustments needed to be made and some glitches in the first day or 2, I will be adding some things and maybe removing others, but once everything is up and running, it will be awesome! :D
Here’s a little sneak peek of what you can expect!
