Viktoria & Ben – Hochzeit Murnau & Garmisch – München Hochzeitsfotograf

Every wedding is beautiful and special, but there’s always one here and there that stands out, and Viktoria and Ben’s wedding was one of those! It was one of my weddings this year I was most excited about, and that started right at our first meeting. Viktoria and Ben just struck me as a super fun couple, the kind of people I could picture myself partying with..and that’s exactly what I did..but more on that later :) And I know I’ve mentioned it here before, but I just LOVE international weddings, and I knew this would be extra special, I mean, how can a Kenyan-German wedding be anything other than amazing?!

Viktoria & Ben had a super long and amazing day planned that started with a civil ceremony in Murnau, surrounded by a small circle of their closest friends and family members.

After they signed their marriage certificate, we went back to Viktoria & Ben’s house where more of their guests were waiting for them. I have to say, their house was so beautiful…especially their amazing garden! Perfect for their little gathering with some champagne and canapes! After a toast and some exchanging of gifts (it was one of the groomsmen’s birthday so they gave him a sweet looking engraved flask, and Viktoria gifted Ben with a beautiful new watch), Viktoria and Ben went inside to get ready for the church ceremony. I have to say, they both looked absolutely amazing! They definitely nailed it when it came to picking out their outfits and accessories, and I’m so glad I had time to photograph it all! One super special and noteworthy thing to mention here is that Viktoria’s parents are jewelers, and Ben did an apprenticeship with her dad, so not only did they make each other’s wedding bands, but Ben also made Viktoria’s beautiful engagement ring, and managed to keep it a surprise until he popped the question!

Next up was the church ceremony! They got married in a beautiful church in Murnau. The priest did an amazing job at making the ceremony personal to Ben & Viktoria, which meant plenty of laughs and a few tears as well. I love how excited Ben & Viktoria were as they walked back up the aisle and Viktoria threw her arm in there air as if to say “We did it! Now let’s party!”

After the ceremony we all drove down to the Grand Hotel Sonnbichl in Garmisch where they had their reception. We started out with a champagne reception on the beautiful terrace before heading in for dinner. There were beautiful little bowls from Kenya at each place setting, each with different animals carved into them. From the reactions I managed to catch, I think the guests loved this special and unique touch! Dinner was accompanied by some great speeches, some planned, some rather spontaneous, but each filled with love and warm wishes for the newly weds.

Fast forward to the party! When I met with Ben & Viktoria for the first time, they told me how important the party was to them and that want me to capture as much of it as possible, and then party with them after. That’s when I knew it would be a fun party, and boy was I right! Ben & Viktoria kicked things off with a really sweet slow dance before getting everyone out on the dance floor. I LOOOOOVED the glow sticks! As soon as Viktoria mentioned them to me in one of our meetings, I knew they’d make for even more awesome photos than usual :) I’m so glad they wanted me to cover so much of the party, it’s really one of my favorite things to shoot because by this time in the day, even the super camera shy guests come out of their shells and have a ball. Plus I feel like this is the part of the day the guests will keep talking about for years to come :) After a 16 hour wedding, I thought I would literally just go up stairs to my hotel room and collapse into bed, but nope…I stayed and had a blast with Ben & Viktoria and the guests that closed out the party.

It was such an amazing day, words really can’t describe it. I loved how each other their families welcomed each other into their families with open arms and ear to ear smiles. Also, I think Viktoria’s grandma wins the “Cutest Grandma Award..” she was literally smiles ALL DAY! So many grandma’s shy away from the camera, but I think Viktoria’s Grandma was loving it. And she asked me to dance with her! :D

Thank you guys so much for letting me be a part of your magical wedding day! I can’t wait for our after wedding session, you guys are going to rock it so hard! :)
