Regina & Florian’s wedding was part 2 of my double header wedding weekend at the end of August. This was the first time I dared to schedule back-to-back weddings and I would be lying if I said it wasn’t exhausting, but it was such a cool experience going basically right from one wedding to the next, because it proved one of the reasons why I love my job so much: no 2 weddings are ever the same! There is always something different about them, something personal to the bride & groom…and thats what makes wedding photography so much fun…there’s no way to ever get bored with it!

That said, Regina & Florian’s wedding was one of those weddings where I think ‘wow, those are some lucky guests,’ because Regina & Florian along with their families certainly know how to throw a good party!

We started the day off taking some shots of Regina & Florian at a few locations around Oberndorf, which is the village where Regina is from and where the wedding was located. They were really cute together and you could tell they have known each other for a VERY long time and really are best friends. After our little photo session, we went back to Regina’s parent’s house where the party would start and end. While waiting for the 140 guests to arrive, we had the pleasure to enjoy a bavarian music group while enjoying some refreshments. A few minutes before the church ceremony was to begin, the band led Regina & her father along with the other guests through the streets of the village to the beautiful church where they had their ceremony. This was a first for me and I loved it!! The whole village came out of their houses to watch the parade go by..it was so sweet, and one of the things I love about small towns in Germany! The church ceremony was beautiful full of passionate speeches by the Priest and wonderful music by the band and a Choir. After the ceremony, the band led the happily married couple back to Regina’s house where the rest of the day would unfold.

Regina’s parents have a BEAUTIFUL yard, it was the perfect setting for a backyard wedding… and I have to mention that I LOOOOOVE backyard weddings…even with so many guests, there is something so personal about them! I have to give a lot of credit to the catering team as well as the tent-rental team because everything was set up so beautifully, it felt like a scene from a movie. After some mingling over champagne amongst the guests, Regina & Florian started Coffee & Cake time by cutting their wedding cake, which with its berry decor fit into the warm summer day perfectly. The guests then helped themselves to a large buffet of cakes and sweets as well as some small appetizers while enjoying relaxing Jazz music performed by one of the many music acts present throughout the day (Regina is a music teacher, so music on her big day was obviously very important to her, hence variety which was a real treat!). This was one of the many points in the wedding where I thought my boyfriend, who occasionally assists me at weddings, will be pretty bummed about what he missed out on lol.

After Coffee & cake, Regina & Flo held a small speech and then the creative activities of the evening began! Some friends of their put their creative heads together and wrote a silly little song about Regina & Florian and their relationship, some of Florian’s friends had a GREAT and very unique idea for presenting their wedding gift…they made a box of thin wood which looked more like a 2×4, put it on a stand Florian was supposed to try to ‘karate-chop’ the wood… I don’t know about the other guests but I was really surprised when it shattered on his first try and euro bills and coins spilled on to the floor… very clever idea indeed! Another high-light was a Folks dance in which all of the guests took part in.. that was also a first for me, and lots of fun to watch! After the Folks dance, Regina & Florian had their first dance, and that was when my part was done. I can only imagine how great the party was after I left, and I am sure that tent was rocking until the early hours of the next day!

Regine & Florian, thanks so much for inviting me to take part in your special day and to get a glimpse into your lives together. You are both clearly surround by lots of love from so many dear friends and family, as well as the love you have for each other, and I hope that never fades! All the best to you both and enjoy your sneak peek! :)
