Ok let me start off by saying Veronika, Matthias, their friends and family are craaaazy!! And I love crazy! Seriously, this definitely goes in the books as one of the most fun weddings ever. And definitely goes down as being the wedding with the most food lol…no starving guests here. But let me start at the beginning..
I met up with Veronika and Matthias at Veronika’s parents house in a small town near Erding. They chose do to a first look session because we were going to do their photos before the church ceremony. Well, Matthias’ expression paints the picture better than I can with words…I already told my boyfriend that if/when we get married his reaction better be that great lol..no pressure on him at all, right? He was right to be blown away..Veronika looks amazing!! Such a beautiful bride! And she had one of the most unique bouquet’s I think I’ve ever seen…it had chilli peppers in it! They love to cook and love spicy food, so it was something very personal to them. Infact, the whole cooking passion showed up often throughout the day which I thought was really sweet :)
It turns out that the perfect photo location was only a few minutes away. Pretty much in the middle of nowhere is the most beautiful garden I’ve ever seen. It’s a private garden but was used for a Garden show a few years ago, and the owners just kept it up…I’m sure it’s a lot of work (I have ahead enough time with my balcony plants lol) but it is so worth it. I was a little worried about the weather because the forecast said rain and the sky was telling me no different…dark clouds and it even drizzled a bit on the way to Veronikas. But needless to say, we got lucky and it stayed dry for Veronika & Matthias’ portraits. They made my job SO easy… I didn’t even tell theme hat to do and they were already rocking it..they have great chemistry and aren’t shy with public displays of affection…I like that! My boyfriend was with me as an assistant and ‘2nd shooter,’ and I have to say right here that I am really impressed with some of the photos he took (some of which are below.) He has no idea how to use a camera (I have to dial in the settings for him) but has a really good eye. Anyway..towards the end of the portrait session Veronika & Mathias’ families came for some family photos. I don’t think I ever laughed so much during this part of a wedding..what a great bunch of people :)
Eventually we finished up and headed to the church. The church was beautiful and what made their ceremony even more special is that the priest is a good friend of theirs. So when he talked about Veronika & Matthias, he really knew what he was talking about lol. Something else I thought was really sweet is that in some parts of Bavaria, it’s tradition for the fathers to be the witnesses. When it came time for Veronika & Matthias to exchange their vows & rings, both proud fathers were front and center with them. When you see the way Veronika looked at Matthias during the vows you can just see how much love there is between them… it’s moments like that that make my job so wonderful!
After the ceremony all of the guests were rounded up for a large group photo..which I didn’t have to take. They hired a local photographer who came with bleachers for the guests to line up on and I couldn’t have been happier about this. Large group photos are not exactly my favourite part of a wedding lol.
While the guests were having the group photo taken I drove ahead to the location to get some detail shots before everybody showed up. The Gasthaus Prostmeier in Riedersheim is pretty much in the middle of nowhere and there isn’t much information online about it (I try to stalk all of my wedding locations beforehand), but it was so nice!! It looks fairly new inside, so I’m guessing it was recently renovated, but they really did a great job! IT certainly made a wonderfull background for the reception photos.
After all the guests arrived and congratulations were given, we went inside and the reception activities began. First everyone was served a 3 course meal for lunch, followed by the first dance and then a funny skit put on by some of Veronika & Matthias’ friends. Soon after that the cake was cut and the cake buffet was open for Kaffee & Kuchen. After some more dancing Veronika was ‘kidnapped.’ Matthias found her not too far away and this is about when the real party got started.I love singing along to all of my favourite Wiesn’t Hits and watching everyone have a great time :D I’m pretty sure most of the guests could have kept the party up at this point for hours and hours, but eventually we all went back inside for dinner. After that came more dancing and the funniest version of Musical chairs I’ve ever seen (a mix between musical chairs & a scavenger hunt..very clever)! The rest of the night was filled with dancing, dancing, dancing and more dancing. I think this is a good point to give a huge shout out to the Night Hawk City band… they were AMAAAZING!!! Seriously, so good! If you are looking for a wedding band check them out! They got everyone into the party, I don’t think I’ve ever seen SOOO many people dance so much at a wedding. Right around Midnight, Veronika & Matthias had their last dance which was sooo romantic..they were surrounded by the people they love who were holding little tea light candles. Then of course they had their grand exit,which fitting to the rest of the day, was hilarious! The guests formed an arch for the happy couple to go under, but somehow Matthias ended up more or less crowd surfing his way out lol.
@Veronika & Matthias, thank you both so much for welcoming Pero & I so warmly and allowing us to be a part of your special and unforgettable day! You guys are definitely crazy, and I love it!! I hope these photos will help you relive your day every time you look at them :)
