So last week and this week are all about catching up on blog posts, and Micha & Daniel’s wedding is one of those posts!
You may recognize Micha & Daniel from their Engagement Session we had a few months ago. Thy were super infront of the camera during their Engagement Session, so I knew it would be no different on their wedding day :)
We started off with one of my favorite parts of the day…getting ready shots! This time in a cute little hotel in Bad Tölz called The Kolbergarten Hotel. I was so excited when I walked into the room Micha was getting ready in, it was just beautiful! One of the reason I love the getting ready shots is because thats the time to get get some great shots of the details of the day, such as the dress, shows, accessories, rings, etc. And of course watching the bride transform from PJs and no-make up to a breathtaking bride is always a neat experience! And this time was no different…Micha looked gorgeous in her dress, which, believe it or not, she actually made herself!! That has to take the cake for a DIY bride! :D After getting a few shots of the boys as well, we headed to the church where we set up a First Look session. Daniel’s expression when he saw Micha was priceless…he said she looked like a dream…it was super sweet!
The ceremony was held at the St. Michael Kirche in Gaißach which is a typical Catholic Church in Bavaria… and when I say typical, I mean GORGEOUS!! We certainly don’t have churches like this back in the US..atleast not in New Jersey :D So needless to say, it is always a treat being able to shoot weddings in such magnificent churches. It was a beautiful beautiful ceremony…the Priest, who although recently retired was nice enough to do one last wedding, did a really great job and I found myself really enjoying his words.
After the ceremony we drove through the wonderful country side in a fun little Audi convertable. Have I mentioned how much I love my job? One of the perks is riding around in cool cars…can’t complain really :D Once we reached the Moarwirt, there was a variety of fun little ‘challenges’ prepared for Micha & Daniel, my favorite of which was Daniel tapping the first keg of good ol’ Bavarian beer :D What I haven’t mentioned yet is that at this wedding, like many others, I got to check off another ‘first’ for me…and this time it was the first wedding with a Hochzeitslader… thats german for something like a Wedding Crier. From what I understand, thats really quite an old Bavarian wedding tradition…he makes sure the guests are where they need to be, provides entertainment with music as well as fun little poems and speeches, and basically sets the pace for the day. HE did a great job throughout the reception at the Moarwirt, and again during the kidnapping of the bride where the guests all spent a few hours drinking, having fun with song & dance and silly little games, on a private little island around the corner from the Moarwirt.
Micha & Daniel, I know you’ve already seen your photos, but I hope you enjoy the sneak peek anyway! Its couples like you guys that really make me enjoy my job..being able to spend the day with people who are so in love with each other, its noticeable every time you look at each other, how you talk to each other, reach for each others hand, etc. Thank you for letting me be witness to such love and capture it with my camera!
