Last month I had the absolute pleasure of joining Steffi & Gregor for their big day in Kirchdorf near Freising. The weather was miserable the entire week leading up to the wedding and the forecast for their day was not much better (I checked about a hundred times a day lol). Buuuut, the weather Gods must have been in a good mood that day because it stayed completely dry, and we even saw some sun :)
I got there a bit early and had a little peek into the reception location, Schuhbauer’s Tenne. I’m always amazed at how many wedding and event locations there are around here, and up until Steffi & Gregor’s initial inquiry I had never heard of Schuhbauers, so the first thing I did was look it up on google :) It looked really cool, so I was solo excited to be shooting there. And when I walked in and saw it all decorated, wow… let’s just say it looked awesome!! I can’t wait to go back for a wedding in September, and I will be there at least once in 2015 as well :)
Once I grabbed a few shots of the Tenne and decorations, I headed down the street to St. Martin’s Kirche. Being based in Bavaria I’ve seen a lot of beautiful churches, but this was definitely one of the most breathtaking churches yet.
After the ceremony, Steffi, Gregor & their guests were ‘picked up’ at the church by their band. The roads were temporarily blocked off as we made our way through Kirchdorf to Schuhbauer’s Tenne where we would spend the rest of the day.
The reception started with congratulations from the guests and a Sekt Empfang, followed by Kaffee/Kuchen which was opened when Steffi & Gregor cut their wedding cake. I think this was one of the larges cake buffet’s I’ve seen at a wedding yet..and everything looked delicious (and the things I tried WERE delicious lol). Soon after that, Steffi & Gregor opened the dance floor with their first dance.
As soon as there was a bit of a break in the program, we snuck off for Steffi & Gregor’s Portraits. And of course we included their ADORBALE little man in a few shots too, and he was a natural! But that doesn’t surprise me at all, because Steffi & Gregor were also so easy to photograph!
When we got back to Schuhbauer’s Tenne, the guests were outside waiting with helium filled balloons to release. After that there was some more dancing, including some traditional Folk Dances followed by a wonderful meal and dessert buffet. At that point my job was finished and the DJ was setting up to really get the party started!
What I really loved about Steffi & Gregor’s Wedding is that their wedding was made so personal by using ‘vendors’ that they knew. A friend of Steffi’s, Eva from Tischblumenwerk, did all of the flower arrangements and everything looked AMAZING, front he bouquet to the church and especially the centre pieces at Schuhbauer’s Tenne. A colleague of Steffi’s did their wedding cake which was also beautiful! And the singer’s in the church and babysitters for the kids in the evening were all previous students of Steffi’s. I really think that personal touches like that make a special day even more special.
Steffi & Gregor, thank you so much for letting me be a part of your wonderful day full of love and laughter!!
