Audrey & Clemens tied the knot in Munich at the Bayerische Nationalmuseum the end of August. It was an amazing day and one of the most fun weddings I’ve photographed this year! I wasn’t really expecting much less though, because when there are Americans involved, it’s bound to be a good party :D

We started off at the Hotel Prinzregent am Friedensengel where Audrey & Clemens were getting ready. The hotel had so much character and charm, it was perfect for getting ready photos and detail shots! Audrey & Clemens got ready together for the most part, but Clemens had to leave before Audrey got into her dress…I just love the expression on his face when he came back into the room and saw his beautiful bride! And who could blame him? Audrey looked absolutely STUNNING! Her dress was so elegant and fit her perfectly! After a champagne toast, Audrey & Clemens went outside wehre a surprise was waiting for them…Clemens’ best man and his wife organized a horse and carriage to bring them to the Bayerische Nationalmuseum where the ceremony and reception were to be held.

The guests were already seated and waiting at the Bayerische Nationalmuseum when Audrey and Clemens came in with the horse and carriage…what an entrance! They had a beautiful ceremony and exchanged vows they wrote themselves in an absolutely magical setting… as beautiful as churches are around here, I just LOVELOVELOVE outdoor weddings. ..they always seem so much more personal, romantic and intimate to me, and that’s exactly what a wedding should be.

After the ceremony the guests enjoyed some cold drinks and canepes on the patio of the museum. It was pretty hot that day, so some of the guests decided to stick their feet in the fountain to cool off… I couldn’t resist doing the same and it felt REALLY good. Once everyone had some time to mingle, the guests had a bit of free time to explore the museum, check out the nearby Englischergarten or even go for a swim in the Eisbach which some of the guys decided to do. I spend sometime with Clemens and Audrey around the Museum grounds and even down at the Eisbach for some beautiful portraits! It really is such a pleasure photographing couples who are so clearly in love and glowing with happiness :)

Before long everyone met back up at the Bayerische Nationalmuseum Restaurant for the evening reception. I have to say, the BNR is one of my favorite locations for a wedding in Munich. Not only is it a beautiful location right in the middle of town, but the food is so good and the staff is AWESOME! They are SO nice, SO flexible, SO helpful and accomodating..I really can’t say enough nice things about them! This was my 2nd wedding there, and I certainly hope not the last! After dinner Audrey & Clemens opened the dessert buffet by cutting their beautiful wedding cake done by Alma Pasteles. And then came the part Audrey had been waiting for all day… the party!! DJ Jules, who I had met at another German/American wedding last year, was great and played such cool music and just created a great party atmosphere!

Weddings like Audrey & Clemens’ are what really make me love my job! While photographing a wedding is always hard work, when they are so much fun, it doesn’t really feel like work at all! Audrey & Clemens are so sweet and great to work with, they made me feel very welcome! Their families and friends were just as great and I had a wonderful time chatting here and there with many of them :)
